Rapid to unveil latest series in ‘Open Hearted’
concept
at K 2007
Bredaryd, Sweden - Rapid Granulator AB will use K 2007 to introduce its new 600 Series of ‘open-hearted’ granulators at the company’s exhibit in Hall 9, stand E19. The Rapid 600 series will be available in three models and can handle capacities of up to 2.500 kg/h.
Rapid’s unique “open-hearted” concept, originally launched in 2006, is based on an ergonomic design that provides swift, direct and complete access to the heart of the machine, rotor and cutter house during production changes. This radically simplifies the inspection, cleaning and maintenance process – which can account for up to 80 percent of a granulator’s running costs. With just a couple of steps, and without the use of tools, the cutter house can be completely opened, facilitating clear visual access to the core machine parts. This allows “visibly clean” inspection and approval of the machine before it resumes operation, preventing potential contamination at colour and material changes.
In addition to the new 600 Series, Rapid will also be displaying its full range of “Open Hearted” granulators including the 300, 400, 500 series. This will include two new additions to the 400 Series: the 400-60 HD (Heavy Duty) for tough applications; and the 400-120, the widest model ever in this series, dedicated to recycle extra wide injection moulded and thermoformed waste product.
The Rapid ‘open-hearted’ granulators are well-suited for high-volume central or beside-the-press granulation of injection-moulded, blow-moulded or extruded plastic waste or rejects for direct recycling. They all use the Rapid cutting technique, comprising clean double-scissors cutting action and a constant cutting circle, to produce uniformly-sized granules with minimal dust content, even with the toughest materials. Moreover, the machines’ cutting action reduces the force needed to slice through the plastics waste, which results in reduced energy consumption.
