Rapid showcases flexible plastics recycling solutions at Fakuma 2026

Rapid Granulator will present a broad range of solutions for efficient plastics recycling at Fakuma 2026 in Friedrichshafen, with a focus on flexible machine configurations, cleanroom applications and efficient material handling close to the production process.

Among the key highlights will be the new Rapid 150-21 Clean Room, developed for production environments with stringent cleanliness requirements, and the Rapid 400-60 with combination infeed, demonstrating the flexibility of the 400 Series and its ability to be configured around different applications, material flows and production layouts.

In total, Rapid will display eight machines and solutions, ranging from compact beside-the-press granulators to roller feeding, metal detection and continuous edge-trim handling.

New Rapid 150-21 Clean Room for demanding production environments

One of the main product highlights at Fakuma will be the new Rapid 150-21 Clean Room, a specially adapted version of Rapid’s compact 150 Series for applications where cleanliness, controlled material handling and process reliability are critical.

The solution is typically designed for use in ISO Class 7 and ISO Class 8 cleanrooms. All internal parts that come into contact with the plastic material are manufactured from stainless steel. Depending on the application and customer requirements, the cutting chamber and rotor can be supplied in steel, Ni-coated steel or stainless steel.

The granulator is fully enclosed within a tight cabinet designed to minimize the risk of leakage into the surrounding production environment. Mounted on castors for mobility, the cabinet can be manufactured from stainless steel, powder-coated steel or aluminum to suit specific production requirements and customer standards.

Controlled material feeding is achieved through double interlocking pneumatic flaps, activated either by a timer or by a signal from a sprue picker. The enclosure is also equipped with connections that allow negative pressure to be maintained inside the cabinet and in the compartment between the pneumatic flaps.

Despite the specialized cleanroom configuration, the machine retains the core advantages of the Rapid 150 Series, including a compact footprint, easy access for cleaning and maintenance, and efficient granulation close to the production process.

Rapid will also display the Rapid 150-21 Auger and Rapid 150-35 Delta Tech, highlighting how the same machine platform can be adapted to different applications, material flows and production requirements.

Rapid 400 Series demonstrates highlights flexible machine configuration

Rapid will also showcase the Rapid 400-60 with combination infeed, illustrating the high degree of configurability available within the 400 Series.

A range of infeed options, infeed profiles and cutting chamber configurations allows the granulator to be adapted to specific production requirements. Material can be fed from the front, rear or side, providing greater flexibility when integrating the machine into both new and existing production lines.

The configuration can be tailored according to factors such as material type and shape, feeding method, surrounding production equipment and available installation space.

This flexibility allows customers to configure the granulator around their production process rather than adapting the production layout to a fixed machine configuration.

The Rapid 400 Series is designed to handle a broad range of plastic waste and combines Rapid’s Open-Hearted design with double-scissor cutting action, pre-adjustable knives and easy access to the cutting chamber for cleaning and maintenance.

Solutions for efficient material handling and machine protection

Rapid’s Fakuma display will also include several complementary solutions designed to improve material handling, process efficiency and machine protection.

The Rapid 200-36 with RFE Roller Feeder provides a compact solution for the continuous feeding of edge trim. Designed for low noise levels, easy cleaning and fast adjustment of the roller gap, the RFE can be quickly adapted to different materials and production conditions.

Rapid will also demonstrate its integrated metal detection solution for OneCUT PRO, designed to detect metal and other electrically conductive materials before they enter the granulation process and potentially cause costly machine damage.

A Rapid 300-45 Standard will represent Rapid’s established Open-Hearted concept for flexible central and in-line granulation. The design provides quick access to the cutting chamber and supports efficient cleaning, maintenance and material changes.

Completing the line-up is the Rapid G-27 Guillotine, developed for continuous handling of edge trim from applications such as sheet extrusion. The guillotine cuts the material into smaller sections, allowing it to be efficiently conveyed to a granulator and returned to the production process.

Flexible solutions for different material flows

Through its Fakuma 2026 exhibit, Rapid will demonstrate how the right combination of granulator, feeding system and auxiliary equipment can support a more efficient, controlled and integrated recycling process.

The machines on display cover applications ranging from small volumes of production waste directly beside the injection molding machine to larger material flows, cleanroom production and continuous edge-trim recycling.

Together, the exhibits highlight Rapid’s approach to configuring granulation systems around the customer’s application, material and production environment.
